Almost over a decade of riding keel fishes, it was time to refine the concept by replacing the tradicional glass on keels with upright fins to explore how that subtle change could transform the board’s feel and performance.
The process started by pulling in the tail to remove some surface area behind the back foot, tightening the control for the new fin configuration. With upright fins, the board comes more alive, sharper and more eager to climb the face.
After taking this board on my trip to the Maldives in August 2025, I finally realized I had found exactly what I was looking for.
Don’t get me wrong, keel fishes will always be a classic and a favorite to ride. This updated version, however, is designed to extract more juice from the timeless design.
